How would you like to really recruit prospects like a boss and build a mega organization with style? How would that make you feel? Instead of feeling like an ambulance chaser and a hopin’ and a wishin’ prospects will join your business from your spammy Facebook and Instagram posts.
How would you like to transition from amatuer to pro status? Well the best way to accomplish this is to learn from the pros. Right? I’m not trying to throw shade, neither am I apologizing for simply revealing the truth: There is a better way.
If anybody knows how to recruit prospects without being a slimy salesperson, it’s Julie Burke, network marketing rockstar and creator of the infamous, Social Media Recruiting Frenzy. Julie has built a team of over 8300 reps on social media without a website or high tech skills. In this post, she will reveal her 4 ground rules for mastering the art of recruiting prospects. Let’s hear what Julie has to say about to how to brand yourself properly and recruit prospects through social media the right way:
Ground Rule 1: Recruit Prospects by being yourself
Always be yourself. As a matter of fact, be your best self. Don’t show up in desperation as Needy Nellie. That is not who you really are. You are confident, bold and courageous. You have the solution to your prospects pain or problem. You need to show up postured as someone that can help them achieve their goals. When you have this mindset, you are putting your best foot forward. You are being your genuine self. There’s no need to suck in your gut and change your voice. People buy people. Prospects can detect a fake in a heartbeat. Be a real, live, breathing person with a story to tell. Be an inspiration, a breath of fresh air. Be YOU.
Ground Rule 2: Recruit Prospects by Bringing Your Passion to the Table
Honing in on your passion is a must!
Ask yourself these 2 questions:
- Why are you in this business?
- Why are you so passionate about your products or service?
Once you get crystal clear about your passion, share that passion with others.
Don’t shy away from having enthusiasm in your voice. I said enthusiasm, not hype. There is a huge difference. Enthusiasm is genuine and real. Prospects can feel and sense whether or not, you are the real deal. Hype, on the other hand is empty and fleeting, prospects can tell if you actually believe in what you are sharing or if you are faking it.
Also, having enthusiasm also doesn’t mean “be loud and goofy”. There is a balance between being overly animated and being too monotone. Find your sweet spot and go for it.
Ground Rule 3: Maintaining Posture is Absolutely Critical
This simply means that you are the one in charge. To recruit prospects, you always maintain the upper hand in your conversations.
You take the lead. You ask the questions and control the flow of the conversation.
You will get better at this over time as you develop a strong belief in yourself, your company and your products. It is a process.
Whatever you do, stop apologizing. This is a huge way to start developing posture by not sounding weak and desperate. For example, erase the following from your conversation:
- I’m sorry to bother you. I know you’re busy.
- I’m sorry, did I catch you at a bad time?
- I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but…
- I’m so sorry, but….
Do you see how that even makes you feel? I’m exhausted from just typing those words.
Just, stop it.
Saying and feeling sorry is a sign of weakness and insecurity.
If you know you have an answer for someone’s problem, what are you sorry about?
Be strong, confident (not prideful) and simply smile.
Be the person that your prospects want to do business with and follow as a leader.
Mentally, detach yourself from the outcome of your meeting. If your prospects, says not now, be cool with it.
You can even take the deal off the table by saying: Well Jeannie, If this isn’t good fit for you right now, no problem, I was just trying to help you meet your goals this year. And move on….
Now, that my friend is posture. It shows that you have the upper hand and you’re not desperate. You have so much belief in yourself and your products and opportunity you can move on to the next prospect with ease. This is a surefire way to crush “your inner beggar” and grow into the professional that you really are.
Ground Rule 4: Invest in Yourself, Increase Your Intellectual Property and Recruit Prospects on Social Media like a Boss
Investing in Yourself and Increasing Your Intellectual Property:
When you invest in yourself you actually increase your value to your potential prospects. This is one of the coveted secrets of top earners. Now, when I say “invest in yourself”, I’m not talking about buying a new pair of shoes; shoes are great and important..ahem..and necessary. I’m talking about investing in some information! Grow your mind and your skill set. Not only will this position you in the marketplace, it will increase your confidence and add to your posture. This strategy alone will set you apart from the herd.
Most top earners greatest asset is not their house or car. It is their mind. They go through great lengths behind the scenes to pour into themselves. The more you invest in yourself (knowledge) the greater your intellectual property, and the more successful you will be. Knowledge increases confidence. Confidence helps you to recruit prospects much easier and much faster.
